Shelley Cook
COOShelley has built out and led Operations and championed a culture to support high-performing teams in a number of growing Biotechs and business units. She also has demonstrable Strategic, Licencing and Alliance Management experience at senior level. Prior to this, Shelley was a Life Science Equity Research Analyst. She graduated with a BA and MSc in Bioscience and DPhil in Emerging Tropical Viruses from University of Oxford, UK, and completed her post-doctoral studies as a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellow at the Natural History Museum, UK and Aix Marseille Université, France.

ChairpersonTom is a Co-Founder and Executive Chairperson of M:M Bio Limited and brings over 25 years of experience in drug discovery, development and commercialization to the team. M:M Bio Limited (Molecule 2 Medicine), is a U.K.-based biotechnology hub that leverages its unique ecosystem to build enduring, commercially orientated drug discovery and development companies. Tom is also Co-Founder and Executive Chair of three additional biotechnology companies that are part of the overall M:M Bio hub; Grey Wolf Therapeutics, ThirtyFiveBio and Pathios Therapeutics. His additional roles include Chairperson of Orbit Discovery and Venture Partner at Brandon Capital. Prior to his leadership positions within the M:M Bio hub, he was President and CEO of Spinifex Pharmaceuticals, a private VC backed US/Australian biotech company developing first in class treatments for chronic pain, devoid of central nervous system side-effects. Spinifex Pharmaceuticals was purchased by Novartis in 2015 for approximately US$700 million. Previous positions include Vice President of Drug Development at Starpharma Holdings Limited (Australia). He holds BSc (Hons) and PhD degrees from Monash University, Australia and completed his postdoctoral training at The University of Oxford.

Head of PeopleWith over 25 years working as an HR specialist, Andrea has successfully delivered projects around organisation design, TUPE, large scale redundancies, performance design, culture and employee engagement, leadership and employee development. Previously, Andrea worked for Berendsen UK Ltd as HR Director for the Hospitality Business Line where she was responsible for the HR function for 3000 employees across UK, Ireland, Denmark and Sweden. Andrea is a Chartered Member of the CIPD, a Mental Health First Aider and a registered practitioner in DISC and Hogan psychometric testing.

Director of FinanceLisa is Finance Manager at M:M Bio. Having completed a BA (Hons) in Accountancy & Management Control, Lisa qualified as a Chartered Accountant ICAEW with Mazars in 2000. Since qualifying, Lisa has held various finance and operational roles within both the private and public sector with a focus on working with SMEs and she brings this experience with her to her role here.

Mitul Patel
Head of BioinformaticsDr. Mitul Patel is a Head of Bioinformatics at M:M Bio where he works with the ecosystem to provide Bioinformatics services. His focus areas are : Bioinformatics infrastructure, pipeline development, big data analysis and software development.
Prior to M:M Bio, Mitul was the Head of Bioinformatics at BerGenBio where he worked on several clinical trials leading translational analysis to provide new insights into pharmacodynamic and predictive biomarkers, and managing the Bioinformatics team. He has also held senior positions at Engitix and Immunocore where he was involved in several big data projects, utilizing and analyzing Omics data from next-generation sequencing projects and databases. He developed many computational pipelines and software applications to analyse RNAseq, TCR, whole exome and Single-cell data in immuno-oncology/fibrosis, including the application of machine learning/AI. Mitul received his Bachelor’s in Bioinformatics in India before emigrating to the UK to obtain M.Sc in Bioinformatics from the University of Wolverhampton and Ph.D. in advanced Bioinformatics from the University of Greenwich. With Bioinformatics roots, Mitul has worked in genomics for nearly 10 years and presented his research at several national and international meetings and has published several peer-reviewed papers.

Sam Harris
Company Secretary & Operations ManagerSam Harris is the EA & Operations Manager for M:M Bio. She graduated from Aston University in 1999 with a BSc with Honours degree in International Business and Modern Languages (French), which included a year at one of France’s top Business Schools – EDHEC. Since leaving University she has spent the last 20yrs of her career providing EA & operational support to C Suite Executives and their Leadership teams, ensuring the smooth running of their businesses incorporating all aspects of people, places and processes. Sam has worked in several industries including Consumer Packaging, Mobile software, Information Technology, and prior to joining M:M Bio, 7 years within the advertising technology sector.

Andy Braithwaite
IT ManagerAndy is the IT Manager at M:M Bio. He has over 20 years of experience in the IT sector.
In his role, he is responsible for maintaining security and developing the IT systems of the M2M ecosystem supporting the IT operations of the wider group.
Previously, Andy has led the IT service for various organisations including a multinational engineering company, a residential special needs school and a national trade association.

Phill Craig
Business AnalystPhill is the Business Analyst for M:M Bio where he provides commercial insight for the group. In his role, he is responsible for strategy, market & financial analytics, and competitive intelligence. Phill has a background in consumer business and tech, working in large multinational companies in a variety of commercial sales and project management roles, as well and more recently in the Canadian tech startup ecosystem as product manager.
Originally from New Zealand, Phill holds an MBE (Bioscience Enterprise) from the University of Cambridge, and BSCs from the University of Otago in Chemistry and Business.

Danish Memon
Lead BioinformaticianDanish is a lead bioinformatician in M:M Bio where he provides insights from large datasets to understand the biology and therapeutic potential of drug targets in oncology space. He has several years of experience consulting with biotech companies for target identification, evaluation of valuable drug assets, disease indication selection and biomarker development for clinical trials.
Prior to this, Danish completed his postdoctoral training in the University of Cambridge and the European Bioinformatics Institute where he worked on integration of multi-omics data to address key questions related to genomic regulation of signalling networks in cancer and characterization of the tumour-immune microenvironment in treatment-naive and treatment-resistant patient populations. Originally from India, Danish has a bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology and a master’s degree in Bioinformatics. He moved to the UK to pursue doctoral studies in computational oncology in the University of Manchester.

Faraz Khan
Senior BioinformaticianFaraz is a Senior Bioinformatician at M:M Bio Ltd. He is responsible for the development of bioinformatic pipelines and novel computational methods for diverse multi-omic datasets to provide unique biological insight for ongoing drug discovery and development programs. His passion is to use computational approaches to understand complex diseases, with an aim to deliver first-in-class medicines, ultimately improving patient lives. He has over 5 years of experience, which includes working for both biotech industry and academic sectors, where he provided computational expertise in the biomarker identification to understand disease mechanisms. Faraz attained MRes, PhD degrees from the University of Nottingham, UK.

Jessica Sette
Project ManagerJessica is currently Project Manager at Grey Wolf Therapeutics Ltd and has extensive experience working across a range of functional areas within a “semi-virtual” biotech company. She has been involved in world-class drug development projects, from preclinical discovery stage right through to IND-enabling and Phase 1/2 clinical stage. She has over 10 years of experience working in the biotech industry and has provided operational expertise to set up small biotech companies at the point of seed investment and Series A financing. She manages key supplier relationships to keep R&D studies and programs progressing in line with scientific aims, corporate goals and financial budgets. Jessica attained BBus. and BSc. (Biotechnology) degrees at the Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia.

Originally from Brazil, she has a BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of Brasilia, a Postgraduate Diploma in Oncology Care from the Federal University of Sao Paulo and 5 years experience in Healthcare. Lorena has recently completed the AWS re/Start programme and has an AWS Cloud Practitioner Certificate.
